A concussion is a brain injury that has effects on normal brain function. Shock or blow to the head causes Concussion in children. Most of the time, there are no external signs of head injury. POST CONCUSSION SYNDROME

In most children, the symptoms of post-concussion syndrome occur within the first week of injury and go away within three to six months. At times, they can continue for a year or more. The objective of concussion treatment is to effectively manage the symptoms of concussion in children.

WHEN DO YOU NEED TO GO FOR CONCUSSION TREATMENT?

It is preferred to call or visit your child’s pediatrician at his Pediatrics Clinic for treatment. He may recommend you to follow the following things:

  • Bed rest,
  • Keep the child hydrated with the fluids,
  • A pain killer.
  • Ice may also be applied to relieve pain, and it can also decrease swelling of the bump.
  • Cuts are numbed with medication, by injection or topical application. The cut is then cleansed thoroughly with an iodine solution.

The pediatrician will explore the injury to look for foreign matter and hidden injuries, and then gives the proper treatment to relieve the concussion symptoms.
